THE HEIGHT OF HYPOCRISY

Due to the passing of a legal giant, Ruth Badger Ginsburg there is now an opening that need be filled on the Supreme Court of the United States.

Unfortunately, the timing of such presents an imbroglio. Without a doubt, the President of the United States is vested with the authority to nominate a replacement and thereafter Congress has the responsibility to vet such and confirm or decline the appointment.

There is however an imminent problem that Congress has created, specifically an exparte Senate which is now laboring to reach a desired result. In essence the GOP controlled Senate weighed in 2016 when a vacancy was created and then President Obama nominated Garland Merrick. At that time, Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell stated that in an election period, the public deserved the right to elect a President and after that result, move forward with the process. Lindsey Graham stated that if the very same scenario occurred again that he and the GOP would act in the very same manner. According, Mitch McConnell and the Senate refused to move on this matter.

Well times have suddenly shifted and so has the position of the GOP controlled Senate. The motivation is clear and such equates to the height of hypocrisy.

The GOP has seen a political opportunity that could effectively change the legal landscape for years. This includes but is not limited to, gutting the Affordable Care Act without any replacement. This also could include rescinding a women's right to seek abortion. In these respects, the GOP has duped the public. Forgetting that the Senate works, or should work and represent ALL people, they forego such in order to gain political advantage and effectively their decision to escalate hypocrisy undermines the true essence of their duty. The conduct set forth integrates deception, dissonance and a thinly veiled power grab to further divide the country.

To willfully mislead the American public is egregious. To state “hold me to my words" ( Lindsey Graham) and exacerbate the trail of spurious information is truly nefarious. One should expect such deception, after all Graham, when running for President, called Trump a “xenophobic racist” however he quickly changed his tune in full fledged support of Trump. This is the game that is played.

McConnell for his part is simply sad. Each are examples of why term limits should be in place. !n fact, when individuals can make a career disguised as those who “work for the public” is in fact disgraceful. There must be limitations when such is solely politically motivated. Change can effectuate a diminished impact in this respect. It must be said that when the same individuals can manipulate the system or conversely one man can control when and where votes are placed, upon political lines, then there is a systematic problem that compels redress.

Until this occurs, we are in a perpetual state of deep division.

A REAL LOOK AT AMERICA

Once again, America has to soul search. At this critical juncture, there have been blatant attempts to sow the seeds of unrest and discord. When one seeks accountability, there must be accountability. Accountability starts at the top. In this case, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, must be held accountable for what he has done and what he has failed to do. Only one major problem. Donald J. Trump refuses to do so. His supporters ignore his blatant lies, mistruths and countless failures in lieu of getting what they want. Be careful of what you seek and who you seek it from.

Donald J. Trump is in essence a fraud. He does not function in the capacity of the President of ALL Americans but rather, only the individuals who support him. It matters not where that support comes from, but instead he wants support. Period. He divides America by race and by party. In his world, the GOP and supporters are NEVER wrong and Democrats and their supporters are NEVER right.

Recently, Donald Trump, the “law and order” President, has taken the side of an individual accused of committing murder. This is not surprising as he has supported a couple who pointed arms at unarmed protesters. He has asked that supporters attack those who were at his conventions and he would “pay the legal fees”. He cannot fathom that law enforcement, as any other profession, has bad actors that need to be eradicated. Trump views the officer who shot Jacob Blake in the back as the equivalent of a golfer who choked on a putt. No, Trump simply espouses the same thing over and again… in essence, whatever a law enforcement does during the course of his duties is acceptable.

In the case of the 17 year old Kyle Rittenhouse, Trump along with many on the right, support the actions taken by the 17 year old, to wit, murder ( as charged currently) and they attempt to once again revise history and the facts with…. alternative facts. Based upon the facts, a compendium of the events is as follows:

(1) Rittenhouse was not lawfully carrying a firearm. He is not of legal age. (crime)

(2) Rittenhouse traveled across state lines purportedly to “protect another’s property”.

(3) Rittenhouse violated the Wisconsin curfew that was in place. (crime)

(4) Rittenhouse had a confrontation and shot an individual. Individuals who witnessed such attempted to intervene. Rittenhouse fled. (crime)

(5) Rittenhouse shot other individuals resulting in two loss of life and one serious injury. (crime)

(6) Rittenhouse was not apprehended, detained or shot 7 ties in the back by police. Despite a plethora of individuals informing the police that “he is the shooter”, Rittenhouse was allowed to proceed down the street and go home.

(7) The charging indictment is filed not by protestors or Democrats but by LAW ENFORCEMENT. Law enforcement says multiple crimes have been committed however Donald J. Trump apparently does not support law enforcements version of the facts. Instead he creates his own and with his following in tow, attempts to carve out sympathy for the charged individual. Similar to Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Sheriff Joe and countless others where his actions run contrary to “law and order”.

This is just on factual scenario. Deep divisions have always been etched and embodied into the fabric of America. While there have been some improvements, there remains that invisible stench that has not been eradicated. Donald J. Trump rallies and embraces that stench in order to suit his purpose.

Donald J. Trump cannot bring himself to even mention the names of those who have been hurt, injured or killed by law enforcement or even understand the nature and foundation of the protests. He sees such as an unequivocal negative with his base supporters. Never say you are wrong, even when it is clear you are wrong. That is his mantra and he effectuates such daily. Trump does not understand that the protests seek justice. On the other hand, when his supporters arrive in order to counter protest, as recently has been viewed, they instigate trouble by shooting paint balls at innocent protesters. A video depicts no individual attacking Trump supporters however Trump states that the paintball shooters were defending themselves. Additionally, when a law enforcement officer was recently killed in Oakland, Trump and his supporters first indicated it was “Black Lives Matters” supporters who “executed” the officer. Upon finding that the shooter was from a far right wing group… The great “law and order” President said nothing, period.

Truth be told, no matter how many flags he flies, no matter how many times he uses government resources to advance his cause, no matter how much money he provides to the top 1%, no matter how much he proclaims to be “law and order”, the facts are Donald J. Trump has crumbled before our very eyes. The swamp lives on inside his White House backdrop. Donald J. Trump is the figurehead of the swamp.

How many times can one man lie before your very eyes and not be held accountable? Apparently many, if he says what supporters truly believe. It matters not that some claim his policies are great and thus they do not care about his character. If character does not matter for a President, then America is truly in deep trouble. Here, we are not discussing Jerry Farwell and his proclamations for years about being a straight arrow. We see now and know that everyone has flaws. Nevertheless, Trump must be called what he is.

In two months or so America will make a choice. We shall see what America is really made of.

DONALD TRUMP= THE WIZARD OF OZ

If you have ever viewed the classic story entitled “The Wizard of Oz”, you watched a remarkable fantasy that capture the young at heart. The movie featured multiple characters including the scarecrow, tin man, lion, Toto, Dorthy and the Wizard of Oz. These were the main characters.

The background of the story was simple. Dorothy was knocked unconscious and believed she had traveled to the land of Oz. She met the others in route to see the Wizard, who was supposed to be “great and powerful, the wonderful wizard of Oz”….

In today’s version or adaption, Donald J. Trump could be each character in the movie,. First, the Scarecrow, did not have a brain. Check for Donald. The Tin Man did not have a heart. Again, check for Donald. The lion was a coward. Check for Donald.

The primary character that fits Donald J. Trump is the Wizard of Oz. The Wizard, portrayed and thought to possess great skills, was actually a fraud. A liar, a cheat and a manipulator that sought to achieve desired results through whatever means necessary. The Wizard promised his followers that if they acted on his requests and desires, he would reward them accordingly. In good faith, the characters went out and accomplished the task they were required to do. Upon their return, they discovered that the Wizard was indeed a fake, a fraud, a phony, liar and a cheat. The dog TOTO exposed the Wizard of Oz.

In the end, the Wizard could not provide what he alluded to but instead he utilized trickery and deception. He promised the Scarecrow a brain and instead provided a piece of paper. The Wizard promised the Tin Man a heart and instead he gave him a clock. The Wizard promised the lion courage but instead provided a fake medal. Finally, the Wizard promised to take Dorthy home in a hot air balloon (symbolic of Donald) yet admitted he did not know how it worked….

Dorthy finally stated that “there is no place like home” … Donald stated the same, as he cowered in the bunker during the peaceful protests.

Sadly, while Donald continues to hoodwink and trick his followers with deception, lies, racist propaganda, and racial division, his tenure rapidly approaches an end. Never allow a fraud to play upon your weakness or proclivities or desires. Recognize a fraud for who and or what it is.

You can make a rationale decision and assist America in becoming one. VOTE!!!!!!

DISPARITY IN JUSTICE EQUALS FAILURE

The American justice system has been broken for a very long time. There has been widespread and disproportionate application of justice for a substantial period of time. Lady justice is supposed to be blind, not stupid. In ordinary terms, the maladministration by law enforcement, through prosecutions and ultimately through judicial sentencing has created and connected a series of dots that has provided the backdrop for a movement.

While there clearly has been a disproportionate impact upon African American and minority communities, there has been no meaningful change in order to address and repair the system. Often times, law enforcement is empowered, in any State, City or local context, simply based upon the provisions and protections afforded by law. In essence, those who drafted the law and those who rule upon the legality of such, decided that the only way to keep officers employed is to ensure that whatever decisions or actions they take are virtually with impunity. Law enforcement understands this and therefore their approach may err on the side of heavy handed tactics.

Recently in Buffalo, New York when two officers were captured on video pushing and injuring an elderly man, they were charged with assault, the entire 57 members of the response team quit in support of the egregious actions the two officers who were charged. Consider for a moment, the officers will have their respective days in court however the very same governing body, law enforcement would forsake the community by resigning. These 57 officers did not resign from the police force. No, they wish to still be paid and have the power that comes with the position. Instead, they are upset that they are now being held accountable in plain view.

Recently, additional unprovoked assaults by law enforcement have been captured on video since the George Floyd murder occurred. The reality of the situation has not truly registered with all of law enforcement.

Minority communities have to be concerned at every interval of criminal justice. With each conviction comes the most important aspect, deprivation of constitutional rights. By way of example, a convicted felon may not vote in most instances. When that is considered, there must be an underlying reason. Simply put, a “convicted felon” can ONLY vote for individuals that are qualified, thus no candidate for President is a felon ( or at least a convicted felon ). It is therefore without doubt that the deprivation is designed to suppress minority voting. There is a theory that the minority, underprivileged and low income will vote democratic. With the overwhelming majority of prison populations classified as minority or low income based in conjunction with the projection that there is an increase in minority representation in the United States, the fear is that a “full democratic vote” will allow a uprooting of power.

In sentencing, there is routine disparity. Although there are many examples across every state, here is one that speaks to the administration of justice…. A white, Henrico County woman had been convicted of murdering her first husband in 1998. She shot him four times in the back, once in the chest. She was sentenced to seven years in prison. She was released after serving just fourteen months in prison. Several years later, the woman struck again. This time she killed her second husband while he was in bed. The husband was found with at least three gunshot wounds to the torso and head. Ultimately the woman was convicted of the second murder as well and was sentenced to fifteen years in prison. Two killings for a total of twenty-two years in prison with only a fraction of that time being served.

By contrast, an African-American man is charged with having constructive possession of a firearm. Constructive possession means not physical control but rather the ability to control the object. Instead of having his case heard in the city in which he resides, with a largely populated minority jury pool, the case was then transferred to a federal tribunal. The jury pool is overwhelmingly white, upwards of ninety-three percent white. Ultimately convicted by a jury, the man was sentenced to a term of twenty-four and one half years in prison. The man had no history of violence.

This is one example of egregious disparity. when there is disparity based upon racial or economical lines, there is no justice. what will you do about injustice in America?
